The Vale Tourism Association Limited (VTA) is a not-for-profit tourism organisation and was conceived in 2003 by a group of 16 accommodation providers based in the Vale of Glamorgan, recognising the need to create a greater awareness of the Vale and all that it has to offer as an attractive tourist destination for visitors, both national and international. The group was fortunate in securing funding which, together with members’ annual subscriptions has enabled them to pursue their objectives.

The VTA offers you the opportunity to network and share information with other tourism-facing businesses in the Vale, keeping you up to date with all the latest news and developments in the industry.    We are continuously developing a very user-friendly and informative website and generally increasing the awareness of the area as a holiday and recreation centre on the world stage.

The membership continues to grow from strength to strength. Accommodation providers have been joined by numerous local businesses, services and attractions.

We invite more businesses (both large and small) to become involved.

Meet the Committee!

Mandy Davies, Chair:

Mandy Davies, ChairBorn and bred in Cardiff,  I became involved with hospitality jobs from my teenage years as a restaurant and latterly hotel manager. Later on, married to John, I lived in Bracknell and Wokingham and our family grew with the arrival of our 2 sons Nicholas and Oliver. We then moved to Heidelberg in Germany for 5 years, where my children spoke german fluently after just 6 months whilst I took the full 5 years to master the language. As soon as I did we moved to Minneapolis, USA. During this time I worked off and on in personnel relocation. Time passes and home we came, this time back to South Wales and a beautiful  manor house called Crossways situated just outside Cowbridge. The B&B was born. For the next 14 years we ran  this businesses , expanding it into the self catering market. In 2015 we closed the business, sold the property and moved to Colwinston to renovate an old fashioned  1970s property.  A project that is now nearing completion.

Despite no longer having my own business I remain as chair of the VTA and  promote the Vale as much as I can  both locally and nationally via involvement with a wide spectrum of  organisations and committees, representing our area and our businesses.

Wendy Bolter, treasurer

Wendy our treasurer

I moved to Cowbridge from Buckinghamshire some 16 years ago, and have been involved with the VTA  as its treasurer since its inception.  I have a background in Financial Services, but started up Sheepleys B&B when we moved to the area.  Apart from running the business, I make sure I find time to enjoy riding my horse, walking my dogs, and the odd bit of gardening, plus of course lunch out whenever the opportunity arises !  I am passionate about the Vale of Glamorgan, and the need to make sure visitors to this area have an amazing experience .

Julie Baxendale

My husband Peter and I have had a Bed  & Breakfast business in Ewenny on the Western fringe of the Vale for the past 13 years, and I have been a committee member for most of that time.  I help out with social media Profile pic - Julie Baxendaleand the website.  When not running the business I enjoy gardening, Pilates, walking our dog in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan, and as you can see enjoy the odd cruise!  We’ve lived in the Vale for the last 30-odd years and although both English have almost been adopted as Welsh…
